On Sunday 23rd June people enjoyed lovely scones and cakes and made new friends around tables in the Grove Centre, with beautiful flute music in the background provided by members of the Leeds Flute Choir. Amongst those attending were local councillors and dignitaries, people from churches and community organisations, and people seeking asylum who have come here from different countries around the world.
The Cream Tea was followed by a short service of thanks and celebration led by Phil Maud of The Grove Methodist, and featured a very large tennis ball being passed around at one point!
Rev Matt Powell of Lister Hill Baptist, Chair of Horsforth Churches Together, also gave thanks for the many volunteers who work hard to make our community a better place, and introduced a short film called ‘Stories of Hope’ giving a snapshot of just 3 of the projects supported by, or run by, people in Horsforth Churches Together – you can see the film below:
We are very grateful to The Grove Methodist for hosting us this year, for support from Horsforth Town Council, and for all who attended and made this such an enjoyable and meaningful occasion!
