This year at our ‘patch’ at Horsforth Gala we added ‘pole jousting’ and a popular Craft Table (making peace doves) to the regular activities of Tots Tent, Penalty Shoot Out and Big Games. On Sunday 23rd June people enjoyed lovely scones and cakes and made new friends around tables in the Grove Centre, with beautiful flute music in the background provided by members of the Leeds Flute Choir. Amongst those attending were local councillors and dignitaries, people from churches and community organisations, and people seeking asylum who have come here from different countries around the world. On Weds 26th June over 100 people attended a local Hustings event organised by Horsforth Churches Together, held in St James’ Church on Low Lane. With 5 of our candidates present, it was a good opportunity to hear them present their views and answer questions which had been submitted beforehand or on entry to the event. Horsforth Gala is a great time for the community coming together for fun and friendship, hopefully in the sunshine! It is not far away now – Saturday 29th June, parade at 12.05, activities in the park from 12.30pm. Each year Horsforth Churches Together has an area of the park and provides lots of activities, from exciting inflatable fun to sumo wrestling to other quieter activities. There is always a Tots tent and a seating area for people to sit and chat.
