Well attended Hustings changes some people’s minds!

On Weds 26th June over 100 people attended a local Hustings event organised by Horsforth Churches Together, held in St James’ Church on Low Lane. With 5 of our candidates present, it was a good opportunity to hear them present their views and answer questions which had been submitted beforehand or on entry to the event.

An entry poll and exit poll showed that at least 23 people
had changed their mind about who to vote for by the end of the event!

Candidates attending (from L to R):

Thomas Averre – Conservative
Ryk Downes – Lib Dem
Katie White – Labour
Mick Bradley – Green
Bob Buxton – Yorshire Party

The event was chaired by Rev Jonathan Cain, and a variety of questions were presented by the Question Master (Cal Bailey) on a wide range of themes, chosen from those submitted by the audience and others beforehand. For each question each candidate only had 1 minute to reply and the timings were adhered to strictly to be fair to all. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to ask all the questions, but a good range were presented.

Many thanks to all the volunteers for arranging this event, and to all the attending candidates for their responses and comments.
